NIFs!

Last weekend I went to the national indoor field hockey festival. I went home to grab my stuff and then my mom and I started driving to Virginia Beach. This tournament was closer to the beach so it was really windy. When we got there it was around 9 by the time we checked in but we didn’t leave till 6 because I forgot to pack because I just said I would do it the next day. The next morning I had to wake up at 5 am! Our game started at 7 and we had to be there by 6:30. I was so tired and it was freezing outside!

Once I got there they put this wristband on and my coach said I couldn’t take it off till our last game was over on Monday. We warmed up and played our first game. Unfortunately we lost both of our games. Both games we were playing U14 which was an older group. There was also a Photo Booth there, this is a picture of us taking a picture at it.

After our games my team and I planned a team lunch because it ended around lunch time at a place called Watermens. One person’s mom on our team printed out a scavenger hunt for us. The owners said that we couldn’t do it anymore because we were running around and harassing people because one of the things on the list was take a selfie with a stranger. We stopped and since we were done eating we all left. A lot of people on my team including me stayed in the Westin hotel. At the Westin they had a indoor pool so we all went swimming! I unfortunately don’t have any pictures of the pool:(

The next day we woke up at 7:00 am and we got there and won both of our games! I also scored a goal! The first game we won 1-0. The 2nd game we won 6-0! When we finished we went to watch the U14 game and then once we left we all went swimming again then we went to the lobby and ate pizza. After that it was still early so we decided to go to the gym there and we just sat on yoga balls and played around. After that we went back to our hotel rooms. This is a picture of us watching the U14 game.

The next morning our games weren’t until 11:00 so me and my teammate went out to get breakfast then when it got closer to our games we were going to go back to our rooms to get ready but there were lots of people by the elevator and turns out they were doing a testing on the elevators so nobody could go in! So me and my teammate had to walk up 13 flights of stairs! Also we couldn’t come back to the room because we checked out at 12:00 and our games ended later than that so we were going to have to bring all our luggage down when we came back down. It was so tiring and it was right before our game but we made it! Then my friend was ready before me and the elevators were still down so she had to walk back down 13 flights of stairs! Luckily the elevators were working right when she got down so I got to take the elevator.

After those games we all went to another team dinner at a mexican restaurant. Not everybody could come though and one person who was not on our team came. Outside there was a big heart structure bench. We took this photo there.

Before we went on I couldn’t find my stick! I looked everywhere but I couldn’t find it! Luckily someone on U14 let me borrow there’s. At the end of the tournament I bought a new stick. We were just about to play and we were about to start when all the sudden the fire alarm went off! We all had to evacuate the building and fighter fighters had to come in. Fortunately I think it was just mistakenly pulled because in about 15 minutes we could go back in and we went back to our game. This was our last game of the indoor season and we won! We had some really good goals and won 4-1. This is a picture of the first fighters coming in the building.

A photographer also took a picture of me playing  which I think is really cool.

after that we went straight home and was a fun trip! I can’t wait for more tournaments!

Lynchburg Field Hockey Tornement

Last weekend my team and I went to Lynchburg, VA for a field hockey tournament. we played 4 games in total. What was really annoying is that the first game we were white and then after that our next game we were black so we had to switch our jerseys and socks. We had 1 hour ish in between each game which I got sort of impatient sometimes and just wanted to play.

My mom and I woke up at 5 am and drove 2 1/2 hours there once we were there we were confused about were it was and where to park because there was multiple different buildings I saw one of my coaches and she showed us where to go.

My team is U12 (under 12) and we were playing up with U14 so I think we did pretty good considering that. The first game we tied 0-0 the inbetween games we changed, got food, and just hung out. then our second game we won 4-2! I also scored 2 goals! The next game we lost unfortunately but it was close. The last game we lost by a lot because they kept getting corners and scored on those so next practice we worked on our defensive corners.

After that we drove back home and had a really good time!

Here is a video of me scoring!
